***URGENT PATIENT NOTICE - COVID-19 VIRUS***

If you are unwell with a high temperature (37.8C or higher) or a new continuous cough, please stay at home and self-isolate for 7 days from the onset of your symptoms regardless of your travel history or contact with confirmed cases. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THE SURGERY, A PHARMACY OR TO A&E. Please go to the NHS 111 online service https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ if you have serious symptoms that cannot be managed at home or have had no improvement of your symptoms after 7 days. Please only ring NHS111 if you cannot get online. Please note a cough may persist for several weeks for some people. However, this does mean you need to stay at home for more than 7 days.

As you will be aware, COVID-19 virus is a new illness that is spreading across the UK. As such we are taking actions to protect our patients, our staff and our community by introducing a new telephone triage system for GP appointments. Our aim is to significantly reduce the footfall through our surgery in order to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, in line with national guidance.

All GP appointments will initially be on the telephone. If you have an appointment booked with a GP, please do not come to the surgery - please stay at home and the doctor will call you as near to the allocated time as possible. The GP will do all they can to help you over the phone - however, should they feel the need to see you face to face for an examination, you will be invited to the surgery for review. Please either telephone the surgery or use the patient online access service to book appointments. We are no longer booking appointments face to face at reception. Patients will be screened by telephone for all pre-booked nurse and HCA appointments.  Please do not come to the surgery unless you have been invited to do so by a clinician.

Due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak and to prevent the spread of infection, for the immediate future we are temporarily disabling the ability for patients to book face to face appointments online. However, you will still be able to book telephone appointments online. Please note you can still request repeat prescriptions online.

If you have to stay at home but feel well enough to work, ask your employer if you can work from home. If you can work at home, you will not need an isolation note.

 

Repeat Prescriptions

medication7**PATIENT NOTICE ON PRESCRIPTIONS - COVID-19 VIRUS OUTBREAK**

  • The practice is working extremely hard to issue prescriptions as soon as possible, but it may take longer than our usual 48/72 hours.
  • During this crisis, patients can request their repeat prescriptions up to 2 weeks in advance.
  • Repeat prescriptions can be requested online or on paper. Repeat prescription request slips are available in the lobby at the Practice or can be downloaded from our website (below).
  • Please put your paper request in the silver box outside the practice.
  • We are continuing to issue 2 months of repeat prescriptions.

Please request your repeat prescriptions in plenty of time allowing up to 3 working days. All requests must be made in writing or by ticking the repeat re-order forms issued with the previous prescription. 

You can request your repeat prescriptions as follows:

  • Bringing in your request to the Surgery, or using the prescription box outside.
  • Posting the request to us.
  • Faxing your request on 01483 225253
  • Using our online service.
  • Requesting the repeat prescriptions through one of the local chemists.
  • You can collect your prescription from the surgery, or you can indicate on the form if you would prefer to collect it from your nominated pharmacy.

For reasons of safety, we do not take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone.  You could contact your local pharmacy to request the medication on your behalf.

When collecting a prescription from the Surgery, if it more convenient for you, we will give your prescription to a relative or friend unless you tell in writing that you would prefer us not to do so.

 Symbol Error 3Please allow up to three full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

 

Urgent Requests for Repeat Medications

If you run out of your medications and need an urgent prescription, we will ask you to collect it after 5.30pm the same day.  This is a one-off service.

 

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be reviewed annually by a doctor or practice nurse.  You may be asked to make an appointment for blood tests prior to the medication review and notification will appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
